  1. The Romans collected taxes to pay for a new synagogue in capernaum.
Our government collects taxes to maintain and build roads, schools, and government buildings.

  2. In other countries, people in charge punish people who are going against the country’s strict laws just as the Romans punished people who rebelled against their laws.. There are countries in which women don’t get many freedoms such as education. A girl resisted that law, so people from that country shot her and the other girls. The girl that went against the law didn't die though.

  3. The people in the Village of Ketzah were a lot more poor like the people in other countries like North Korea. Iran is more like Capernaum because they are still ruled by a dictator and they don't agree with all the things that the government does(Muslims) because there are Christians there.

  4. In Ketzah you have to believe a certain religion other wise they will kill you. Just like in some other countries around the world there leader/government will kill you if you don't believe in the religion they want you to believe in.

  5. Just like the people from the village, our world is afraid to speak up for what is right. Problems in our world normally happen because things are left unsaid. Bullying occurs in our world because someone doesn't stand up. Daniel isn't afraid to stand up but the people are. They are afraid that their village might be burned down or their reputation might get hurt, just in the same way as we feel sticking up against bullying.

  6. In our society we as Christians sometimes are told to not talk about our beliefs and in the book Daniel is asked to hold his beliefs. Because others in our society are scared of the outcome just in the book the reason he is asked to hold him beliefs is because they are afraid.

  7. We today have prisons, but in their times they would just have someone work for them or they would just execute them under the Roman rule.
