  1. When Joel and Thacia want to make this vow with Daniel it means that they are ready to do something about the Romans. They want to put an end to the killing of innocent people. When they say they want to do this for God's Victory it means that they are doing this in God and for God. They are going to dedicate this to him.

  3. [Joel] He wants to be a Zealot. He wants to do something other than be a normal boy and study all day. He is jealous of Daniel for living adventurously. He wants to avenge Daniel's parents.
[Daniel] He wants to avenge his parents and live up to his own expectations.
[Thacia] She is jealous of the boys. She is like a mini woman's rights leader. She follows where Joel leads.

  5. For Daniel, it just meant that he wanted to kill the Romans because they killed his family members. For Joel, he was a good friend and wanted to help Daniel. He wasn't really thinking if it was the right thing to do even though he studied the Bible a lot. For Thacia, it meant that she could fight against the evil just like famous women in the Bible.

For Joel, it meant that he could do something for his friend and prove that he was on Daniel's side. For Thacia, it gave her something to do for her brother and Daniel and for God's Victory, showing God that she can stand up for what is right.
